In 2024, Bloomberg received the Presidential Medal of Freedom from President Joe Biden. 

 He has served as chair of the Defense Innovation Board, an independent advisory board that provides 

 recommendations 

 on artificial intelligence, software, data and digital modernization to the United States Department of Defense, since June 2022.  


Bloomberg joined Rudy Giuliani, John Lindsay, and Fiorello La Guardia as re-elected Republican mayors in the mostly Democratic city.

 while former vice president Joe Biden had become the frontrunner after receiving the support of major candidates Pete Buttigieg and Amy Klobuchar shortly before Super Tuesday.  

Bloomberg suspended his campaign on March 4, 2020, after a disappointing Super Tuesday in which he won only American Samoa"
