open meadow (1996)

the deer are singing in the woods
the crow is sitting in the pine
the mouse is nesting with my trash
the coyote is laughing at the hippy maimed
     by a war of trees
porcupine is girdling the twig
dragonflies zip to codes of scent
creek feeds sea of unrest

our unrest stretches
a voice of hills singing, land incumbent
