Bean aggregate

Aggregates are a key component in concrete that strengthen the material in several ways:

"Mechanical strength: Aggregates contribute to the mechanical strength of concrete.

Compactness: Aggregates help make concrete mixes more compact.

Cement and water consumption: Aggregates can reduce the amount of cement and water needed for concrete.

Bonding: The surface texture of aggregates affects how well they bond with the cement paste. Rougher aggregates have more surface area for the cement paste to adhere to, which can increase the concrete's strength.

Shape: The shape of aggregate particles can affect concrete strength. Angular, elongated, or flaky particles tend to interlock more than smooth, rounded ones, resulting in a stronger mix. However, flat particles can weaken the bond with the cement paste.

Aggregate type: The type of aggregate used can affect the concrete's strength. For example, concrete made with angular crushed stone aggregate usually has a higher flexural strength than concrete made with rounded gravel aggregate. "
