bends

water churning large stone to sand, doing
dishes. whole trees,
limbs long left behind around
bends. i'd go to sleep
to the shredding
and bowling 
of boulders for year after year
as my kid teethed and learned her ABCd
jumping over rattlesnakes in cats mouths,
and eating tofu.
