"One of Enid’s iconic downtown buildings is getting a name change.
Hiland Tower, 302 N. Independence, officially became Independence Tower on Thursday.
Kline Signs installed the new lettering.
The tower, originally the Youngblood Hotel, was built in 1930 by Laurence Youngblood.
Oil tycoon Harold Hamm bought the building in 1992 for $585,000 and moved his Continental Resources firm to his new acquisition, according to a Nov. 24, 1992, article in the Oklahoman. "
