"Forrest Gump is a 1986 novel by Winston Groom. The title character retells adventures ranging from shrimp boating and ping pong championships, to thinking about his childhood love, as he bumbles his way through American history, with everything from the Vietnam War to college football becoming part of the story.

Throughout his life, Gump views the world simply and truthfully. He really does not know what he wants to do in life. Despite his low IQ, Gump is full of wisdom.

According to him, he "can think things pretty good", but when he tries "sayin or writin them, it kinda come out like Jello".

His mathematical abilities, as an idiot savant, and feats of strength lead him into all kinds of amazing adventures"

"Kermit L. Mowbray A 20-year resident of Santa Fe, died May 22, 2011. Born 1934 in McPherson, KS to Carl and Frances Mowbray, he received a bachelor's degree from Bethany College in Lindsborg, KS. After serving in the Army, he earned a Ph.D. in Economics from the University of Kansas.

While in graduate school, he married Linda Gump and moved to Topeka, KS to work at the Federal Home Loan Bank of Topeka. After 25 years, he retired as president of the bank. Kermit taught at Peru State College in Nebraska before moving to Santa Fe.

ONE heck of a coincidence, living with the daughter of a Gump for over a year, watching Kermit testify on CSPAN to Congress from Lawrence....driving past Enid, where my great great-grandfather was once the VP of  The Bank his brother HH owned (along with the biggest independent fully integrated oil company in the world circa 1930-1950, Champlin Oil.


Good at numbers (kinda/good), ping pong, and being at the right place at the right time, and strong. OK.

I share this only because there is a new song playing in the bars called Forrest Gump, and it is weird.

Watched the movie last year , or year before. Bubba, Gump's friend, his tombstone carved with my birthday, coincidentally.
