fossil skull zero

motion, stone laid asunder
bone still rings, sand; silt ponders
deep in the ebb, the web of the flow
coal dark coolness, fossil skulls know

there twixt the crags, buried in waves
damned to a pond, stillness barged, brave
   surrounded in sturgeon, burgeoning schools,
man's sad skull sings, echoes zero's pools

bobbing ever slightly, losing bits to spare,
piecing back borrowed meal, river must repair,
   iron carbon blood and dream
   silver magnesium phosphorous bean

   mindlessly moving, subtractive and fixed
our river skull motion can take the licks
