Lee Bloodgood, 40, 000 acres

Lee Bloodgood, far right in the blue shirt, my dad's cousin whose father Ellsworth was a cattle ranching pioneer in the Gila Wilderness area as Apaches defended their territory.

Lee owned 40,000 acres and shot a man who had trespassed and left his cattle gate open.

Instead of being convicted for murder, or manslaughter, Lee was found to be mentally incompetent, and his 40,000 ACRES was taken by the state of New Mexico.
